An etching by artist, Charles Frederick William Mielatz (1864-1919), featuring a harbor scene. Titled, Breezy Day - East River, Williamsburg Bridge.
Mielatz was born in the Kingdom of Prussia (now known as Germany) and came to the United States as a young boy. He studied under the painter, Frederic Rondel, Sr., at the Chicago School of Design and Painting. In time, etching became Mielatz's specialty and he taught etching at the National Academy of Design. He was a member of the International Jury of Awards for engravings and etchings at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition held in St. Louis in 1904. He was also a member of the New York Etching Club.
Dated 1887. Work is framed.
